GATHERING THE COMMUNITY
The Minister welcomes everyone informally and any directions given.

THE GREETING

Minister    Dear friends, we gather this morning on the traditional and unceded territories
of the Musqueam, Squamish and Tsleil-Waututh Nations.
All    May we dwell on this land with respect and peace.

Minister    The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God,
and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit, be with you all.
All    And also with you.

Minister    Let us pray.
We thank you, O God, that you have again brought
us together on the Lord’s Day to praise you for your
goodness and to ask your blessing.
Give us grace to see your hand in the week that is past, and your
purpose in the week to come; through Christ our Lord.
All    Amen

CONFESSION & ABSOLUTION

Minister    Let us confess our forgetfulness of the needs of the poor,
and repent of the ways in which we waste the resources of
the world.

Silence is kept

Minister    We confess our sin, and the sins of our society,
in the misuse of God’s creation.
God our Father, we are sorry
for the times when we have used your gifts carelessly,
and acted ungratefully.

Minister    Hear our prayer, and in your mercy:
All    forgive us and help us.

We enjoy the fruits of the harvest,
but sometimes forget that you have given them to us.
Father, in your mercy:
All    forgive us and help us.

We belong to a people who are full and satisfied,
but ignore the cry of the hungry.
Father, in your mercy:
All    forgive us and help us.

We are thoughtless,
and do not care enough for the world you have made.
Father, in your mercy:
All    forgive us and help us.

We store up goods for ourselves alone,
as if there were no God and no heaven.
Father, in your mercy:
All    forgive us and help us.

Minister    Merciful God,
grant to your faithful people pardon and peace,
that we may be cleansed from all our sins
and serve you with a quiet mind;
through Jesus Christ our Lord, who is alive and reigns with you and the Holy
Spirit, one God, now and for ever.
All    Amen.

THE COLLECT OF THE DAY
Minister    Stir up, O Lord,
the wills of your faithful people,
that richly bearing the fruit of good works,
we may by you be richly rewarded;
through Jesus Christ our Lord,
who is alive and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit,
one God, now and for ever.

All    Amen.

THE PROCLAMATION OF THE WORD

FIRST READING: A READING FROM THE BOOK OF EXODUS                                      Jack Wood

The Lord said to Moses and Aaron in the land of Egypt: This month shall mark for you the beginning of months; it shall be the first month of the year for you. Tell the whole congregation of Israel that on the tenth of this month they are to take a lamb for each family, a lamb for each household. If a household is too small for a whole lamb, it shall join its closest neighbour in obtaining one; the lamb shall be divided in proportion to the number of people who eat of it. Your lamb shall be without blemish, a year old male; you may take it from the sheep or from the goats. You shall keep it until the fourteenth day of this month; then the whole assembled congregation of Israel shall slaughter it at twilight.

They shall take some of the blood and put it on the two doorposts and the lintel of the houses in which they eat it. They shall eat the lamb that same night; they shall eat it roasted over the fire with unleavened bread and bitter herbs. Do not eat any of it raw or boiled in water, but roasted over the fire, with its head, legs, and inner organs. You shall let none of it remain until the morning; anything that remains until the morning you shall burn. This is how you shall eat it: your loins girded, your sandals on your feet, and your staff in your hand; and you shall eat it hurriedly.

It is the passover of the Lord. For I will pass through the land of Egypt that night, and I will strike down every firstborn in the land of Egypt, both human beings and animals; on all the gods of Egypt I will execute judgements: I am the Lord. The blood shall be a sign for you on the houses where you live: when I see the blood, I will pass over you, and no plague shall destroy you when I strike the land of Egypt. This day shall be a day of remembrance for you. You shall celebrate it as a festival to the Lord; throughout your generations you shall observe it as a perpetual ordinance. EXODUS 12:1-14

Reader    This is the Word of the Lord.
All      Thanks be to God.

A brief interlude for music.

THE GOSPEL                                 Jack Wood
Reader +   The Holy Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ according to Matthew.
All       Glory to you, Lord Jesus Christ.

Jesus said, "If another member of the church sins against you, go and point out the fault when the two of you are alone. If the member listens to you, you have regained that one. But if you are not listened to, take one or two others along with you, so that every word may be confirmed by the evidence of two or three witnesses. If the member refuses to listen to them, tell it to the church; and if the offender refuses to listen even to the church, let such a one be to you as a Gentile and a tax collector.

Truly I tell you, whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven. Again, truly I tell you, if two of you agree on earth about anything you ask, it will be done for you by my Father in heaven. For where two or three are gathered in my name, I am there among them." MATTHEW 18:15-20

Reader   The Gospel of Christ.
All    Praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ.

SERMON

Followed by a Time for Reflection will follow.

AFFIRMATION OF FAITH
Minister   Let us confess our faith as we say,
All    I believe in God,
the Father almighty,
creator of heaven and earth.
I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord.
He was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit
and born of the Virgin Mary.

He suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died, and was buried.
He descended to the dead.
On the third day he rose again.
He ascended into heaven,
and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
He will come again
to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the holy catholic Church,
the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and the life everlasting. Amen.

A brief interlude for music.

INTERCESSIONS AND THANKSGIVINGS Linda Bourne

After the intercessions, a time for personal prayer follows

THE LORD’S PRAYER

All    Our Father in heaven,

your kingdom come,

Give us today our daily bread.
Forgive us our sins

Save us from the time of trial,
and deliver us from evil.
For the kingdom, the power,
and the glory are yours,
now and forever. Amen.
